Although most people probably associate bagels with the United States of America and New York, a closer look reveals that they actually appeared in the 17th century in the territory of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and quickly spread throughout the world. These ring-shaped rolls with a hole are a part of Jewish culture in Lithuania, but unfortunately, as it disappeared, the bagels left Lithuania too.

The good news is that “Beigelistai” (with two locations in the center of Vilnius) have been serving bagels again for some time. There are also some plant-based options - well worth a visit when you want a hearty breakfast or a quick lunch!
